Climbing down was fun than climbing up. Lot easier too, now that we had the confidence that we wont roll down the rock.
Midway we opened our bags and started lunching. We were just about to finish when it started raining. I asked everyone to collect the paper plates and plastic covers with them and not litter around the place. I had to order and only then people relented. We started climbing down in the light drizzle which increased to a heavy downpour (which is what we didnt want that time). It was 5 in the evening and there were no signs of the rain to stop. We took refuge at a nearby mantap and proceeded when the drops were relatively smaller and irregular. The rock was slippery due to rain and turning back we could see water flowing from the top of the mountain like waterfalls. It was superb. I felt like sliding through those waters. Fresh, white and frothy it was flowing like nobody’s business. We stopped a while and turned around, the whole surrounding was made beautiful by the rain.
We were all dripping wet, slipping and sliding through the rock. We were the last and the only group to climb down in such weather and time. It was late evening. Others had planned well and were probably in the comforts of their homes or something. If not for a maa (a cool drink) seller we’d be stranded on the mountain till God knows what time. He guided us in the right path till we reached the base. So we gave him 50 bucks. He didn’t even ask for it. Sometimes, we are like that when we feel very happy
We were trembling with cold and badly wanted the loo. You know when you get all wet and its chilling cold, you get the feeling. So we rushed to a nearby village marriage hall (if I can call it so), the toilets were yucky but we were grateful nonetheless.
We washed hands and face (needs a mention after writing about that kinda loo) and ate delicious hot-spicy bhel and badly craved for steaming mug of coffee. We had that too on our way.
All in all too much fun, too much enjoyment and too much freshness, not to forget the aches in all the places known and unknown in the body, is all we carried back with us. And also loads of snaps, videos and memories to cherish for a long time.
Feels good to even remember that weekend.
We are planning another trek sometime soon. Hope it happens.
Also please remind me to buy nice shoes for trek (though I’m thankful for the grip my shoes provided when others slipped a lot).
WOW!! u went for a treck!! lucky u!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like you had a great time!! I’m so jealous, how I would have loved to go on sucj a trip with friends!!! Oooh and trust me, good shoes make all the difference, (and this I say from my one hike experience). And you know that one thing that stops me from being a great traveller, (other than the fact that I have a terrible case of motion sickness??) is that I have a horrible phobia of dirty toilets. But still you had an amazing time and you were with friends, such things don’t really matter do they??
